Elevated synthesis of defence enzymes in tomato using Trichoderma and Pseudomonas spp.
ABSTRACT
Trichoderma spp, Pseudomonas spp and their combination were assayed for their efficacy as biocontrol agent against bacterial wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum. Activities of defence related enzymes viz. phenylalanine (PAL), guaiacol peroxidise (POX), polyphenol oxidase (PPO) were assessed in tomato seedling after pretreatment with Trichoderma spp., Pseudomonas spp., their combination. The activity of PAL, POX and PPO was maximum at 1st day and gradually declined on 3rd and 5th day respectively after inoculation. POX activitiy showed same trend as PPO.
