Embedded system and its applications
Introduction:
Embedded system is one that has computer hardware with software embedded within it, as one of its important part. It has processors, timers, interrupt controllers,memory devices,ports etc. It has main application software which performs series of tasks concurrently and it also has real time operating system [1] [10]. In future highly efficient and diversified embedded system will be used widely in real life. The heart of embedded system is microcontroller.An embedded system is the integration of hard ware and software [3]. And the knowledge of its various interfacing devices is required to design and develop the embedded system hardware and software.
Embedded system applications:
Embedded systems encompass variety of hardware and software components that perform specific function in host system, for example satellite, washing machines hand held telephones and automobiles [3]. An embedded system has diversified applications and potential for highly innovative products [2] [6]. Embedded systems were used for large safety critical and business critical applications that include energy production control, air traffic control, avionics, space, home appliances and consumer electronics [11] [12].In my research work I will do five applications.one of the application is displaying a text by interfacing LCD screen with 8051 microcontroller. I will use MULTISIM software simulator to display two lines KSWU BIJAPUR and ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT in a virtual environment.
Hypothesis:
To display KSWU BIJAPUR and ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT on LCD screen using MULTISIM software.
Methodology:
Using multisim software and assembly language program LCD will be interfaced to 8051 MCS to display the above result.LCD used for this interface has 14 pins.There are 8 data lines which are connected to the any one port of 8051 microcontroller.Vcc and Vss are provided by +5 supply voltage. VEE is pin no 3 used for controlling LCD contrast. The actual implementation of thecontrasts control function varies according with the manufacturers. TheMultisim simulator allows connecting the circuit components according to the schematic. All components have pins that we use to wire them to the other components or instruments.Multisim knows we want to wire and the pointer changes to a crosshair [5] [9].We can interface real world signal from inside Multisim and output data to drive real world circuitry, or display simulation data in a more suitable to our needs.
Objective of the research work:
To display KSWU BIJAPUR and ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT on LCD screen using MULTISIM software and LCD commands. Assembly language program will be developed.
Result and conclusion:
The program developed can be used to display any other applications which requiredisplaying massages on LCD screen. MULTISIMsimulator helps us to perform and practice experiments to improve our understanding of various electronic concepts. It also helpful to design and program embedded system applications in my research work.
