Abstracts: This report represents an analysis on implementation of solar thermal energy on conventional air conditioning system. In this project a setup is designed to utilize solar thermal energy to reduce compressor work. In conventional air conditioning system some changes are made to utilize solar thermal energy with the help of solar thermal collector and heat exchanger. A diffuser is used to increase the pressure of refrigerant before the inlet of compressor. Solar energy is collected by solar thermal collector and is transferred to heat exchanger via medium of water. Temperature of refrigerant is increased through heat exchanger in first phase of the arrangement. Now a proper diffuser is used to increase pressure of refrigerant in a desired amount. This whole setup is placed before compressor inlet. Thus conversion of solar energy is used to reduce compressor work which increases COP of the system and reduces power consumption. Reduction in power consumption and increment in COP due to this new arrangement is discussed in this report.
