Project objectives and its relationship with Sectoral objectives
To provide essential and integrated package of the primary health care services at the grass root level by construction of this BHU.
To improve the health status of masses of these areas by providing them quality health services resulting in significant decrease in high mortality and morbidity.
To extend primary health care coverage to the entire population by improving the network of Basic Health Unit, and thereby, to enhance the life expectancy noticeably by cutting the infant mortality rates.
BASIC HEALTH UNIT
BHU is the primary level institution in the health care system, serving a population ranging from 1,500-5,000 persons. The BHU also has facilities for basic laboratory tests and short-term observation of sick patients. It is the focal point for community health services. Currently, morbidity and mortality for under-five years old children is mainly caused by acute respiratory illness (ARI), followed by skin infections, diarrheal diseases, worm infections, malaria and other fevers.
PROJECT AIM
This Project aims to establish a Basic Health Unit at Village X to improve health services as per BHU Standard declared by the Govt.
