Abstracts: Forging is a manufacturing process involving the shaping of metal using localized compressive forces. Forging is often classified according to the temperature at which it is performed: "cold", "warm", or "hot" forging. Each and every forging industry is dependent on the hammer. If hammer is getting failed than it is difficult to achieve required production rate. We observe that there is a problem with the shaft which is the main power transmitting element of the hammer may get failed in very short duration about 4 to 6 months which may get increase the maintenance of the hammer. So by experimental analysis and optimization of the shaft we can get the proper design of the shaft.
