Research in artificial intelligence(AI) is known to have impacted medical diagnosis , stock trading , robot control and several other fields. Perhaps less popular is the contribution of AI in the field of music.
Nevertheless, artificial intelligence and music (AIM) has, for a long time, been a common subject in several conferences and workshops, including the International Computer Music Conference.
Current research includes the application of AI in music composition, performance, theory and digital sound processing.
Computational creativity
It means to model , simulate or replicate creativity using computer.
It aims to understand human creativity and to formulate an algorithmic perspective on creative behaviour in humans.
What key?
What Key determines the key of a song in real time. Combining the spectrum analyzer from Pitch to Note with music theory algorithms, What Key matches the notes being played to major, minor, blues, and bebop (jazz) scales in all keys, picking the scale and key with the best match.
Sony Rolly
Rolly is an egg-shaped digital robotic music player made by Sony, combining music functions with robotic dancing. It has two wheels that allow it to rotate and spin, as well as two bands of coloured LED light running around its edge and cup-like "wings“ which can open and close on either end, all of which can be synchronized to the music being played.
