AIM: To prepare a job in fitting shop as per given drawing.
Tools required:
1. Flat bastard double cut file
2. Flat smooth single cut file
3. Try square
4. Universal Marking Guage
5. Surface plate
6. Steel measuring scale
7. Marking punch
8. Scriber
9. Hand Hacksaw
10. Ball peen hammer
11. Drill
12. Tap
13. Bench Vice
14. Letter Punch
Material of Job: Mild Steel Flat piece ( )mm

Operations Performed:
1. Marking & Layout
2. Clamping
3. Cutting & Filing for squareness of all faces
4. Drilling
5. Tapping
Procedure:
1. Check the dimension of work piece by steel scale.
2. File flat surfaces of the piece using bastard file.
3. File one of the side edges along thickness by bastard file and check its straightness
4. File the adjacent sides at 90 degree by bastard file and check its squareness.
5. Apply chaulk on the flat face and mark the dimensions by universal gauge and scriber.
6. Make firm marking by using marking or dot punch on scribed lines.
7. Mark center of hole to be drilled by center punch.
8. Cut square notch as per drawing by hacksaw.
9. Drill hole of diameter ……………… mm.
10. Perform tapping of …………… mm thread.
11. Using smooth file remove all burrs.
12. Mark roll no. using letter punch.
13. Smear oil to prevent job from rusting.
Precautions:
1. Work piece must be hold in vice firmly. Do not overhang the piece from jaws.
2. Don’t touch the file surface with fingers as it will make file surface oily and will slip on work piece.
3. Prevent eyes from metal chips.
4. Take care while mounting hexablade on frame. The teeth should be in forward direction.
5. Use center punch to mark the center before drilling to avoid flying off drill bit.
6. Never use file without handle.
7. Remove all burrs from the job surface.
8. Smear the job with oil to prevent rusting.
