What is flip flop
A flip-flop is an electronic circuit having two output states Q and Q’ which are complement to each other.
Memory elements used in clocked sequential circuits are called flip flops.
They are basic building blocks for sequential logic circuits.
. WHY IS FLIP FLOP CALLED A HISTORY SENSITIVE DEVICE
ANS: The output of the sequential circuit is not the function of only the external input but also of the present state of the memory element i.e on past output.Because of this feature, flip flops are called history sensetive device.
D flip flop VS SR flip flop
ADAVATAGE Of D FLIP FLOP-
In D flip flop there is no indeterminate or forbidden state while in SR flip flop there exist a indeterminate state when S= 1 and R=1
In D flip flop there is only 1 input which is D whereas there are 2 inputs S n R in SR flip flop
DISADVATANGE OF D FLIP FLOP- its characterstic table does not include “no change” condition i.e Q(t+1)= Q(t)
