Abstracts: This report contains discussion and analysis of structural failures using past data. Structural failure refers to loss of the load-carrying capacity of a component or member within a structure or of the structure itself. Structural failure is initiated when the material is stressed to its strength limit, thus causing fracture or excessive deformations. In a well-designed system, a localized failure should not cause immediate or even progressive collapse of the entire structure. Ultimate failure strength is one of the limit states that must be accounted for in structural engineering and structural design. There are many structures fails due to reasons and remedial measures should be taken for various structure bodies like Dams, Buildings, Bridges, Pipelines built for Fluid Transports etc. Concept of structural failure, causes and general remedial measures are described in first chapter. It is essential to do case studies of failed structures. So case studies of structural failure of Building, Dam, Pipeline and Bridge were carried out. Details of site visits and gathered data as well as causes and remedial measures are given. Study of building failure at Ataladara, Vadodara, is carried out and details are given in second chapter. Causes and remedial measures are given for the same. Seepage failure in Earthen dam Sawali lake, Kheda, is taken as case study and details of causes and remedies are given in third chapter.
