Introduction
Your attention is invited towards above mentioned two circulars issued regarding filling of
examiners’ mark sheets. It is always emphasized that filling of examiners’ mark sheets is very
important. The marks are the direct indicator of evaluation of the students. Wrong entry of Marks
put the question on evaluation itself. When maximum marks are assigned to subheads
OR/PR/TW/PROJECT etc. as 25/50/100 is not the mere conversion. It defines the strategy of
evaluation. The teachers must know it. Hence it is every time instructed to refer teaching and
examination schemes at the time of examination and assign correct marks in examiners ‘mark
sheets. However it is highly regretted to mention here that despite often instructions, many teachers
are still making wrong entries or not making entries in case of some students. It is really a stain on
the holy duty of a teacher. It was also instructed to assign the responsibility of verifying correct
entries by a senior teacher or HOD maintaining secrecy. In case of test/sessional marks it is
instructed to take a Xerox copy of examiners’ mark sheets after the marks are filled in and get the
signature of every student on it so that if any discrepancy is observed, shall be rectified there only.
But these instructions are also not followed by some teachers. In all, it indicates the sheer
negligence on the part of some teachers for which the students suffer. It is funny to mention here
that some teachers give marks even more than maximum marks and some give marks for all
students less than minimum passing marks, though the students perform satisfactory.
