Fishing Disc
- is a very simple tool that does the hook setting for you, automatically. Find out how you can take advantages of this new fishing gadget to hook more fish, and to enjoy more fun.
Fishing Disc has nothing to do with computers - bits or bytes, as its name may suggest. Since the main part of this gadget - a small, round weight that is shaped like a disc, hence the name comes.
Fishing Disc is small, light enough to put into your pocket, or to store in your tackle box. It is easy enough to setup in just a few minutes. Surprisingly, it can actually do automatic fishing. Fishing Disc® products are based on technology of a US patent (United States Patent 7,650,712), two foreign patents, and a US patent application pending for examination by US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It had its first showcase at 2006 ICAST in Las Vegas, exhibited in the New Product Show Case. Visitors were amazed to see the simple but versatile auto fishing device.
Rod Preparation
Preparing your fishing rod for using Fishing Disc is very simple and pretty quick to do. Simply find a middle or upper position on your fishing rod that is at the middle point between two line guides. For longer rod, make sure this point is within arms reach when one of your hand is holding the rod at the handle. Second, referring to image on the right (Rod Preparation Fig.1), peel a strip of sticky metallic tape from tape paper inside the Fishing Disc package; thumbing the longer side of the Disc Support and press it onto the rod at the position mentioned above; then tape the short side of the Disc Support onto the rod. Repeat the same step on the longer side of the Disc Support. The image on the right (Rod Preparation Fig.2) shows the end result.
Setting The Hook
Image (Setting the hook Fig. 1) on the right shows the fall of the Fishing Disc. When this happens, the disc pulls down the fishing line. The Fishing Disc is acting as a mechanical hand to set the hook, equivalent of lifting and swinging the rod back by hand.
Playing The Fish
Upon noticing Fishing Disc has fallen, angler should detach the Fishing Disc from the fishing line first then play the fish the old way. The main purpose of the Fishing Disc is to set the hook, not for playing the fish. Whether you are using a line clip or using a line hook, it is easy to detach the Fishing Disc from the fishing line. If one is using a line clip, it is possible to choose a proper position (how deep) to clip the fishing line so that the falling disc can detach from the fishing line automatically, and still creating a hook setting effect on the biting fish.
