The name fixture is derived from the fact that it is always fastened to the machine in fixed position'. As two operations are to be performed on a component at a same dimensions, that are drilling and boring. These two operations are performed on two different CNC machines of same centre heights ( 114.7mm). So, we develop two fixtures, one for drilling and one for boring, considering the specifications of machine as well as the specifications of component. While designing these fixtures the method of location and clamping is such that the idle time on machine is very minimum. We had made the arrangement of fixture for easy and quick loading and unloading of the component. In these fixtures there are no chances for the improper loading of component. The sufficient clearance is provided to hold the component easily and to pass out the swarf (fine chips). The fixture is sufficiently rigid to secure the preset accuracy of machining. There is very fine arrangement in fixture, so that removal of work piece is not obstructed by burr. Here the ejection of component is very easy. The fixtur

As far as concerned with the manufacturing aspects of fixture, it is totally manufactured in a general purpose workshop, but only a skill is required to design the fixture and understanding the drawing of fixture before manufacturing. While manufacturing the fixture we have to consider the available sources for the machining operation on the parts of the fixtures. Also we have to consider some parameters, which are not the part of the given drawing of the fixture. Sometimes some operations are critical one to perform the machining operation and critical to check the dimension with the measuring devices, at these situations we have to go for the operation, which are not the parts of fixture as far as drawing is concerned. While taking these type of decision of performing these unexpected operations, we have to take care that these operations will not affect the accuracy, function of fixture and the given parameters of the component with respect to fixture. The processes that are carried out on these fixtures while manufacturing are turning, milling, drilling, boring, tapping, heat treatment and grinding.
