GESTURE BASED COMPUTING
Gesture based computing1 (1).pptx (Size: 784.22 KB / Downloads: 34)
OBJECTIVE
The main objective is to develop an UI that recognises the gestures & perform the following operations :
Control the mouse & generate mouse clicks.
Enabled Drag & Drop functionality for moving
selected file/text/windows.
Capture photos using the webcam attached.
Close the currently active application.
Minimise/Maximise windows
INTRODUCTION
A gesture is a motion of the body that contains information.
Waving goodbye is a gesture.
Pressing a key on a keyboard is not a gesture because the motion of a finger on its way to
hitting a key is neither observed nor significant, All that matters is which key was pressed.
LITERATURE SURVEY
Paper 1– Robust vision hand tracking using single camera for ubiquitous 3D gesture interaction.
Sergio Rodriguez,Artzai Picon , Artiz Villodas - Technalia , 2011
This work proposes a 3D interaction technique based on computer vision for hand-computer gesture interaction.
It offer a low cost solution and provide robustness.
The technique used in this paper overcomes the problems related to illumination changes
Based on a low cost camera based 3D interaction technique.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
A vision based 3D interaction technique.
Doesn't use any costly hardware component.
Uses only a normal webcam.
HID- hand movements will be translated into the movements of mouse pointer
Frees the user from the burden of purchasing costly hardware
It provide much ease and comfort
The system can be used by everybody every time and everywhere being suitable for mobile and embedded application
DESCRIPTION
A small video is shot and converted to number of images.
HAAR technology is used
Intentional movements and unintentional movements are sorted
HAAR technology includes :
The +ve and –ve image folders are prepared
Creating description file of positive samples.
Creating description file of negative samples.
CONCLUSION
Our project is doing by trying to implement all the mouse operations with the movement of human hands in air.
The user can interact with the PC using intuitive
gestures instead of the usual Keyboard & Mouse.
The software can be extended easily to include more
functionalities.
The future of this work is oriented to gesture recognition in order to make the system capable of distinguishing different gesture and interpret them independently
