Abstracts: Now a day, Three-phase diode bridges are used in rectifier type loads such as motor drives draw line currents that are rich in harmonics. So we have proposed a system which will give rise to a new form of power system providing a robust solution to tackle with the present ongoing problems and issues regarding electrical power systems. We have proposed a harmonic reduction method which reduces the harmonics at the input of dc UPS using 12-pulse topology with auto-transformer which is an attempt to compete with the today’s electrical and electronics world. This project presents a compact autotransformer topology suitable for 12-pulse rectification. It differs from conventional 12 pulse rectifiers by achieving harmonic current reduction and also reducing its size and cost. The project presents the concept and principle of operation. It establishes guidelines for designing the autotransformer. A model is developed and simulated to investigate the concept. Finally, the project presents experimental results obtained from simulation. The results show that the proposed concept satisfies the performance benchmark specified in the IEEE 519-1992 guidelines of input current.
