Establishment:
Excel industries established on 19th November 1941 by M/S. C.C.Shroff as a small lab and it is self made company at one man efforts. Today Excel is joint ranking with multinational annual turnover of 150 crores and more every year. And its men power strength of about 1000 employees.
Excel in INDIA:
Excel has established various plants in India. Their current plants are as below:
Excel Industries Ltd. – Bhavnagar, Established in 1969
Excel Industries Ltd. – Selvasa
Excel Industries Ltd. – Dhank
Excel Industries Ltd. – Gajod, Dist- Bhuj
Products:
Butane-diol (B.D.): It is consumed by Het diol plant. It can be used as chemical row material for other industries.
Chloride Pyrophosphate(C.P.P): It is used in products of pesticides and insecticides.
Het diol: It is used in crop like Toddler Alpha, Alpha T, Tobacco, Vegetables and fruits.
Prophenotors etc.
Excel in BHAVNAGAR:
Bhavnagar plant has begun with the establishment of White Phosphorous plant in the year 1968-69 by Mr. C.C.Shroff
After than two other plants were established in 1982 which manufactures Het diol and Butane Diol
The plant of Het diol and Butane Diol has a capacity of about 1200 and 5000 TPU respectively. The Chloropyro Phosphate plant produces about 400 TPU.
Excel Performance Analysis:
ECCL becomes FIRST IN ASIA and THIRD IN THE WORLD to produce Broad Spectrum insecticides Het diol.
ECCL was THIRD to develop Aluminum Phosphate caliphs in 1967.
ECCL becomes FIRST IN ASIA and THIRD IN THE WORLD to develop of manufacturer the Trans Located Herbicide Glyphosphate.
ECCL is FIRST IN INDIA to develop ButaneDiol, basic row material for Het diol.
PROBLEM SUMMARY
Our Industry Defined Problem is on “Improper Response of UPS and Fluctuations in PLC Input as a load of UPS”. In our one month training period in ECCL, Bhavnagar we observed two mentioned major problems. This problem lies in ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT and CONTROLLER BASED PROBLEMS of the subjects given to us as sections for IDP by GTU.
Now-a-days in all kinds of industries, UPS is the key element and so as unavoidable. And for any company to perform well, Input continuous electrical signal (at a constant frequency) is the basic requirement. Some devices needs continuously input power which is not guaranteed by normal A.C.Mains. To serve need for Uninterrupted Power, UPS is used. But for somehow, UPS can not provide power whenever necessary (utility main fails) which affects other upcoming equipments too, which is our first problem .
Expected outcomes:
An expected outcome is somewhat the desired final output, having predicted that defined problem has been solved. It has a slight difference with solution. Expected outcome is the result of evaluated solution.
Expected outcome of specific process heavily depends upon the method which we choose to solve a particular generated problem. We shall see expected outcome for both predefined problems one by one.
Expected outcome for UPS monitoring:
“UPS monitoring “is our final destination. And UPS monitoring can be done by several ways i.e. We can develop software according to the structure and plant operation. Alternate approach can be obtained by using optical transmitting device and corresponding receiver that can generate on computer screen in control.
An ECCL posse 8 UPS in 5 different plants, to monitor whole ECCL process also with Stand by UPS if needed (depend upon field application). We expect outcome that shows detailed panel status on our receiving screen. For Numeric UPS, we have 8 push buttons on panel.
