Biometric
A biometric is a physiological or behavioral characteristic of a human being that can distinguish one person from another and that theoretically can be used for identification or verification of identity.”
Application Categories
Biometric applications available today are categorized into 2 sectors
Psychological: Iris, Fingerprints, Hand, Retinal and Face recognition
Behavioral: Voice, Typing pattern, Signature
A digital camera used to capture the hand image
Shape of the hand contour and palm print texture
Classification of contours using HMM
Conclusion
The hand geometry can implement by combination of different hand biometrics method for better performance for example, palm print, finger print, hand shape and so on. the reduction on the resolution of the image files should also be considered since the hand geometrical approach might not require high resolution. This will reduce the amount of space required for database.
