Abstracts: India is a large country with the huge population. As the population increases the need of the electrical energy also increases. The need of the electrical energy is fulfilled by the power plants. This power plant runs on the conventional energy sources like coal or oil or gas.Due to this ever increasing use of conventional energy sources, it harmful to the environment also. It produces the greenhouse gases like CO2, NOx, SOx and this energy sources are diminishing in the next 100 years. Solution of the problem is the non-conventional energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal and OTEC. The wind is available from the nature, free of cost, and does not harm to the atmosphere. The major advantage of this wind energy is that it does not create any pollution. There are two types of wind turbine- horizontal axis wind turbine and vertical axis wind turbine. Vertical axis wind turbine is further divided in to the two rotors- savonius rotor and another is the darrious rotor. In this project attempt is made to design, manufacturing and analysis of the savonius wind turbine. Attempt is made to do the experimental as well as analytical analysis, and further compare these two analyses. Efficiency of the savonius wind turbine can be improve by curtaining arrangement as well as various configuration of savonius rotor, and orientation of wind direction. In this project, efficiency improvement of the savonius type of wind turbine with curtaining arrangement will be carrying out.
