Definition:
When a Process is executed by the CPU and when a user Request for another Process then this will create disturbance for the Running Process. This is also called as the Interrupt.
An interrupt is an unexpected hardware initiated subroutine call or jump that temporarily suspends the running of the current program.
Interrupts occur when a peripheral device asserts an interrupt input pin of the micro-processor.
Interrupts fall into two major categories, maskable and non-maskable.
TYPES OF NINTERRUPTS
Generally there are Two types of Interrupts
1 Software Interrupt.
2 hardware interrupt.
major categories of Interrupts
1 Maskable Interrupts
2 Non-Maskable Interrupts
Non-Maskable Interrupts
We can’t control to interrupt is called non maskable interrupt.
we can say the interrupt which can not be ignored by the processor ,while performing its operations are called maskable interrupt.\
Hardware interrupt.
Interrupt signals can come from a variety of sources.
For example, every keystroke generates an interrupt signal. Interrupts can also be generated by other devices, such as a printer, to indicate that some event has occurred. These are called hardware interrupts.
PC's support 15 hardware interrupts.
