INTRODUCTION
A computer is a man made electronic machine which stores, reads and processes data to produce meaningful information as output.
It works very fast and does not make mistakes but its capacity is limited. It is made of English word ‘to compute’. It operates under the control of a set of instructions that is stored in its memory unit.
A computer accepts data from an input device and processes it into useful information which it displays on its output device.
Actually, a computer is a collection of hardware and software components that helps us to accomplish many different tasks.
In the past 50 years, the computer has had a profound impact on business and on society in general. There is no doubt that computers will continue to affect our lives in the future, probably in even more dramatic ways. Computer utilization has resulted in numerous wide-ranging benefits for the economy and for the individual.
As general introduction, we consider both advantages and disadvantages of computers. Almost al of us are involved, in some fashion, with computers on a daily basis. For example, in cars we drive, the televisions we watch, the clocks that tell us the time, the microwave ovens that heat up our leftovers, and, of course, in the machines that populate many of our desktops. Moreover, computers typically write our paychecks and send us our bills.
FUNCTIONS
Computers helps collecting and recording data that allow users to make decisions.
Computers helps in storing data that retains digital data used for computing at some interval of time.
It also converts raw data into some useful information.
At last the processed data is generated as an output.
Conclusion:-
With computers having the potential for such a profound effect on business, science, education, and health, as well as on the economic and political structure of the country. Hence it is imperative for us to understand how this equipment can be effectively and efficiently used.
