INTRODUCTION
The Company is an initiative of Arcelor Stainless International, and a joint venture between Jindal Saw Limited (Part of OP Jindal group) and Imphy Ugine Precision(A Division of Arcelor Group) established in 1984 in Hissar(Haryana) and inaugrated one of its branch in Bahadurgarh on 10 april,2006.
It is leading manufacturer of High Quality Precision Stainless Steel strips, and now the first & only manufacturers of Soft Magnetic Nickel Alloys on commercial basis in India. It offers a wide choice of thin and ultra thin rolled strips. The strips produced meet the most stringent requirements of the customers.
Steel
Steel is an anti-corrosive product and the most recycled commodity with varied product life cycle depending upon usage. Steel products offer immense market potential for industrial, infrastructure, transportation, home, architectural and construction applications.
Steel grades develpoed on the basis of their applications:-
Austenitic Steel(Super corrosive and oxidation resistive)
Martensitic Steel(11.5% - 18% chromium & 0.1% - 1.2% carbon)
Ferritic Steel(10.5% - 28% chromium & low carbon content)
Duplex Steel(18 % - 28 % chromium & 1 % - 8 % nickel)
Steel mills
Steel mills turn molten steel into blooms, ingots, slabs and sheet through casting, hot rolling and cold rolling.
There are mainly two types of Steel mills:-
Integrated Steel mill
Principal raw materials are iron
ore,limestone & coal(coke).
Mini steel mill
Obtains most of raw material
From scrap steel,recycled from
Used automobiles & byproducts
Of manufacturing. Integrated mill process
Rolling Mills
These mills make the steel smooth and strong upto yield point. There are a lot of expectations from these mills :-
Leading process technology.
High rolling speed and flexible production.
Complete and individual solutions that accommodate the increasing quality requirements for cold rolled products.
Technologies that allow high-quality products.
Future safe investment by expandable solutions.
Low operating costs and high plant availability.
Increased requirements for plant productivity and quality of rolled steel.
Cold Rolling Mills
For cold rolling,Tandam mills are extensively used.In past these mills were of batch type but now most of them have been converted into continuous type.It has the main benefit that non-stop production is possible for these mills.
Some other benefits are:-
High production rates.
Optimized yield.
Reduced roll consumption.
Flexible production.
Tight tolerances for strip thickness, shape and high surface quality.
Low costs for operation, maintenance and minimum down times.
