Abstract:
The development in the field of control systems has enabled the people to use automation. Industrial automation deals with the optimization of energy-efficient systems by precise measurement and control technologies. In telecommunications, IVR allows customers to interact with a company’s system via a telephone keypad or by speech recognition, after which they can service their own inquiries by following the IVR dialogue. IVR applications can be used to control almost any functions. “IVR and GSM based Control System”, by which we are helping people to control the appliances and devices used in daily chores.
With the Completion of our Project, we predict to develop an automated system that not only helps people in controlling the appliances from remote place but also notifies about the faults in the device. The Result will be a product that is easily affordable for the people and generate a belief of security and reliability in their mind.
Using this system consisting of GSM Modem, microcontroller, Voice Recorder and DTMF Decoder, one can get a clear view about the devices placed remotely; also LCD display can provide the actual information which is an integral part of this System. One can control the device using mobile (as all the appliances are connected to the controller) just by sending a short message to the GSM modem in the System. INTRODUCTION :
A control system is a device or set of devices used to manage, command, direct or regulate the behavior of other devices or system. Automatic control is the application of concepts derived from the research area of modern control theory. Automatic control is also a technology for application of control strategies. The implementing part requires prior of analyzing and modeling of the subject to be controlled. Automatic control covers all kinds of technical implementations for systems to save energy and workforce.
So to develop such a system which can save time and work, new technologies like GSM and IVRS should be used. Considering the increasing competition and standard of living of people and the hectic time schedule it’s very important to develop a system which saves their valuable time and can be learnt by them quickly to efficiently use it..
IVRS AND GSM BASED CONTROL SYSTEM :
An Automated system combining both IVR and GSM to provide the reliable and efficient service to user can be used.
The mentioned project is based on microcontroller. Most of the service providers in today’s world are IV. GSM MODEM
GSM MODEM is a class of wireless MODEM devices that are designed for communication of a computer with the GSM and GPRS network. It requires a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card just like mobile phones to activate communication with the network. Also they have IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number similar to mobile phones for their identification.
A GSM MODEM can perform the following operations:
1. Receive, send or delete SMS messages in a SIM.
2. Read, add, search phonebook entries of the SIM.
3. Make, Receive, or reject a voice call.
TONE MULTI FREQUENCY (DTMF)
Dual-tone multi-frequency signaling (DTMF) is used for telecommunication signaling over analog telephone lines in the voice-frequency band between telephone handsets and other communications devices and the switching center.
How to send DTMF tones?
You can send DTMF tones using your fixed line phone or cell phone, but if you want to automate the sending of these tones over a phone connection, it becomes difficult because most modems can only send DTMF to dial a number, but when the connection is made, there is no way to send these tones. Some GSM modems do have this feature such as the Wave-Com and the SIM300 modem.
Sending DTMF tones using a GSM modem:
The following code sample demonstrates how to send a numeric text message to a pager using a GSM modem. The sample checks if there is a PIN code on the SIM card in the GSM modem and sets the code.
If the code is correct, the modem will dial the number in voice mode, waits till the connection has been established and sends the DTMF code. Finally, the connection is terminated.
