WHAT IS DATABASE?
It is collection of data with some inherit meaning, designed, built and populated with data for a specific purpose. A database stores data that is useful to us. This data is part of the entire data available in the world around us. To be able to successfully design and maintain database we have to do the following:
Identify what specific objects in the part of the world’s data are of interest to us.
Identify a relationship between the two objects.
Software houses took up the challenge of designing the system that would user is managing data in a database. These systems were called Database Management System (DBMS). Some of the DBMS developed Oracle, Ingress, Sybase, etc...
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT:
The followings are recommended as hardware and software requirements for this employee information system:

Intel Pentium PCs with minimum of 1 GB Hard disk and 64 MB RAM.

Purpose:-
