Influence of different substrate on production of cellulolytic enzymes by Trichoderma asperellum in solid state fermentation
ABSTRACT
Production of cellulases from Trichoderma asperellum on solid state fermentation was assayed using different substrate viz. rice bran, wheat bran, sugarcane baggase, maize bran and sorghum seed. The substrate inoculated with spores of the fungus was incubated under static conditions for 9 days at 260 C and the enzyme extracts obtained at different time intervals were analysed. The results showed that the cellulase enzyme production was significantly affected by days of inoculation and substrate used for cultivation. The maximum activity of cellulase was produced at 6th day on rice bran followed by sorghum seeds. The substrate also influenced the patterns of extracellular protein concentration, reducing sugars and pH during the time course of solid state fermentation.
