QWE co is a new entrant in the crowded telecom space in India. The company won a
PAN India license for integrated telecom operations in the country. The company opted
for dual technology (GSM+ CDMA). It was also keen on rolling out WLL services and
Data services in the country. With the licenses in place, the company decided to setup the
necessary software solution in place for the rollout.
Mobile Services-Prepaid
The company decided that GSM is going to be the focus area. The company planned to
roll out prepaid and post paid plans to the customer using GSM technology. The SIM
card is to be made available in retail outlets and company showrooms across the country.
The customer has to fill in the customer details form and enclose a recent passport size
photograph and address proof. The cost of the sim card is 50 rs. For prepaid customers,
there is an inbuilt talk time of 15 rs which can be used once the sim is activated post the
customer registration process.
The Customer form is send to the customer registration department of the company
which will take care of the customer registration process using the proposed application.
The system should have some mandatory fields and should have the provision to generate
unique reference numbers. Only 5 government approved documents are accepted as
address proof – copies of driving license, pan card, passport, ration card & bank passbook
copy.
If by any case the customer registration cannot be done due to incorrect documentation,
the application is rejected and the sim is not activated. The documentation verification is
done offline and only the results are updated in the system. The amount paid for the sim
is forfeited. The sim activation can be done only after the customer registration has been
completed successfully. Prepaid sim is activated 2 days after the customer registration
and post paid sim is activated 4 days after the customer registration. Once the sim is
activated, the software should have a provision to generate and print an activation
acknowledgement receipt.
For prepaid customers the 15 rs talk time will have to be used within 7 days from date of
activation. Prepaid vouchers came in different denominations 50,100,200,300,500 &
1000.
