Isolation, characterization and optimization of amylase producing bacteria from soil
ABSTRACT
Amylases are among the most important enzymes and are of great significances in present day industry. Amylase producing bacteria were isolated from soils of wheat field. The culture conditions for higher amylase production were optimized with respect to NaCl, pH, temperature. Maximum amylase production was observed at 10% NaCl at pH 7.0 and 37˚C. The best activity was observed on calcium. The amylases producing bacteria efficiently hydrolyzed starch and can have practical application in industry.
