Introduction of Mr. Reddy
He was from a small town ambapua in outskirts of Berhampura a town known as the cultural capital of Orissa.
He calls himself a dancer without training.
Reddy became a dancer by watching films and TV programmes.
In 2005, after completing high school, Reddy chose seven boys between 15 and 22, mostly labourers from Berhampur and formed the Prince Dance Group, a name he thought would attract young people.
Tasting the Success
Within a year, the group grew to 16 members and plunged into Boogie Woogie, the long-running Sony dance show where it was adjudged a runner-up with a cash award of Rs 75,000.
In 2009, the group, which had expanded to 26 members, participated in Colors' reality show, India's Got Talent and successfully cleared its audition.
They not only won the competition through a massive outpouring of SMSes, with Naveen Patnaik being among their supporters, but were also granted a cash prize of Rs 1 crore and four acres of land to set up a dance school at Gopalpur by the chief minister.
The hard work behind the Grandeur
He has been obsessed with dance since he was in school.
He started hunting for talent. He always felt that adversity brings out the best in the best. None of the members has a dance and music background. But his mission has been to make them perform despite that.“
Two of its members, Padmanabha Sahu (24) and Telu Tarini (13), suffer from polio.
They practised in Ambapua and on Gopalpur beach, and have now left their footprints on the sands of time.
Success brought Recognition..
The Berhampur-based troupe -- their story sounds a bit like the rags-to-riches tale.
It has become a statewide obsession ever since its members startled everybody with their fleet-footed show.
Such was "Prince's" impact that CM Naveen Patnaik declared his vote for the group. "Their performance has been magical and they have made Orissa proud," he said after congratulating Krishna and his boys.
After winning Rs 50 lakh and a car from the channel, a pleasant surprise lay in store for them. The Orissa government announced a cash prize of Rs one crore and four acres of land for the group to build a dance academy.
Future plans & Inspirations
With the land provided to him by the government he wants to build a dance academy and take this art forward.
He would also like to perform on an international platform and is working for the same.
Inspiration
His elder brother T. Harinath Reddy who also runs a dance school, Hari and Group, in Berhampur. "My brother was interested in dancing and I just copied him.“
He has always been inspired by lord Krishna and thus in his each acts he always aspires KRISHNA which is his success mantra.
