Abstracts: This Abstract presented the results of a research project to design, develop, and test a low cost UPS (Uninterruptible power supply) system that can be readily used for day to day energy and power applications. The idea behind “A LOW COST ON-LINE UPS” is to equip UPS with secondary energy source other than Mains supply. The main energy source not a renewable energy source so a UPS system acts as a power source. The basic technology of the online UPS is the same as in a standby or Line-Interactive UPS. However it typically costs much more, due to it having a much greater current AC-to-DC battery-charger/rectifier, and with the rectifier and inverter designed to run continuously with improved cooling systems. It is called a Double-Conversion UPS due to the rectifier directly driving the inverter, even when powered from normal AC current. UPS have become an integral part of the modern computer and IT industry. More and more new technologies are developed and applied in this field. UPS with SMPS and Electrical Drives have given birth to whole power electronics industry. Today UPS are inevitable in computer industry. Moreover there is also rise in another filed of Solar Power which uses the same technology as UPS to generate Power. Photovoltaic Installations on large scale have become very common. Moreover we are also adding fault indication and fault notification system in our UPS for specific industrial applications where failure of UPS can cause several problems. This project has wide areas of applications in industrial, household and rural Applications.
