An Experimental Investigation On The Effect Of Wind And UAN On Water Evaporation
Abstract
Water is very important to keep this planet alive; it is the source of all forms of life. Therefore it is essential to preserve and not to waste it unnecessarily. That’s why nowadays a new technique of irrigation is being used intensively which is sprinkle irrigation.
Although it saves a lot of water by giving plants adequate amounts, a large portion of water evaporates due to the large contact surface area of the water droplets. Also there is a portion lost due to wind drift, this portion either evaporates or transported as whole droplets outside the irrigated area.
UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate) is usually added to water as a fertilizer, but it has been observed long ago that adding a substance to water reduces its ability to evaporate, therefore adding UAN to irrigating water is not useful only for fertilization but also to reduce the loss of water by evaporation.
In this project, the effect of adding UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate) on irrigating water at different concentrations to reduce the loss of water by evaporation is being studied experimentally.
