INTRODUCTION
LUPIN LTD is one of major PHARMACEUTICAL Company in INDIA. The company is engaged in production of bulk drugs and other pharmaceutical formulations. The company having its manufacturing units at various locations in India as well as at abroad.
LUPIN is one of the manufacturing units of the company which is engaged in bulk drug and drug intermediates. The unit is located adjoining to national highway no 8.
The unit started in 1981. Its first product was ETHAMBUTOL HYDROCHLORIDE, which is one of the important unit T.B drug. Now at present the unit is engaged in manufacturing of following products.
1. ETHAMBUTOL HYDROCHLORIDE
2. 7-AMINO DEACETOXY CEPHALOSPORANIC ACID
3. 7- AMINO, 3-CHLORO CEPHALOSPORANIC ACID
4. TARTARAIC ACID
PRECAUTION
• Separating medium should be uniform through so particle do not go into filtrate i.e. mother liquor.
• Filtration should be done for enough time otherwise some particles can go with filtrate which can result in loss of TA.
FILTRATION BY SPARKLER'S FILTER
This type of filtration is done in sparkler filter because sparkler filter remove all basic and sulphate impurities.
Solution from storage tank is passed through sparkler filter.
Filter medium is made of polypropylene cloth.
Here also only filtration occurs.
23 plates are used in filter.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Effluent treatment plant process is divided into three broad categories as below.
1. ANAEROBIC SECTION
2. AEROBIC SECTION
3. TERTIARY TREATMENT
All the Effluent Is collected at various collection sumps from plant by pump. Effluent having higher COD (15000-17000) is collected separately, and goes to anaerobic section and balance effluent goes to aerobic section.
ANAEROBIC REACTOR
Effluent from storage tank 2 Nos anaerobic reactor, It is R.C.C structure having 9.5 m Dia and 5.5 ml Depth having volume of 383 m3 each with 18 hrs retention time. Anaerobic reactor or fluidized bed reactor operates or suspended growth system. Here in bottom 1.5 m sand layer is made and piping arrangement for pressurised flow is provided. So when effluent are pumps from storage tank. It would agitate sand and along with anaerobic bacteria mass will also more and will act upon organic contents of effluent as food
ANAEROBIC UPFLOW FILTER
The overflowing effluent from anaerobic reactor is taken in to 2 Nos anaerobic filter in series. It is R.C.C structure of 12.5 m Diameter and 5.5 m Depth.
Volume is 675 m3 each and selection time 32 hrs. This is packed with rock media and microbial culture from cow drug and sew edge is developed of air.
These micro-organisms adhere to the rock and slim on it. Effluent moves from bottom to top, hence it is unflow anaerobic filters. During contact of Effluent with micro-organisms acidogenic and methanogeic bacteria act upon Effluent and breaks complex organic molecules in simple like methane and ammonia
EQUALISATION AND NEUTRALIZATION
There are two R.C.C tanks with acid-alkali proof brickwork and having capacity of 500 m3 each and retention time is 24hrs several effluents streams in a tank for one day so that effluent is to be treated is having uniform PH and other characteristics.
We use hydrate line to neutralize Effluent for homogenizing and mixing of effluent. Two air blown in it volatile gases and free NH3 gets released. After PH adjustment to about 8.0 to 9.0 a lime and electro polymers are added for suspended particle separation from effluent.
Inlet COD is 10000 to 15000 ppm and 20 -25% reduction. It is physic chemical process.
AERATION TANK
The clear overflowing effluent from priming clarifies is taken to aeration tank. It is a circular R.C.C structure having 28 m Dia and volume 2150 m3 and retention time of 4.3 day.
Three Aeration of 60 HP is provided on it. It helps to maintain to keep mixed liquor in suspension and supply dissolved oxygen to biomass for bacterial activity in effluent.
In aeration tank aerobic microbial culture is developed from cow drug and sewages and nutrients like UREA, DAP etc added.
Culture development is done once in beginning. After that effluent feeding continued and bacterial mass uses dissolved organic matter from effluent as food and converted into CO2 and water.
This results in COD reduction and bacterial growth in aeration tank .During splashing effect of aerator biomass also gets splashed out along with effluent which is recycled from secondary classifier. Generally 4000 to 5000 ppm of MLSS head to be maintained for our system. It may vary if organic load varies.
