MIS refers broadly to a computer-based system that provides managers with the tools for organizing, evaluating and efficiently running their departments. In order to provide past, present and prediction information, an MIS can include software that helps in decision making, data resources such as databases, the hardware resources of a system, decision support systems, people management and project management applications, and any computerized processes that enable the department to run efficiently.
Within companies and large organizations, the department responsible for computer systems is sometimes called the MIS department. Other names for MIS include IS (Information Services) and IT (Information Technology).Management information systems involve three primary resources: technology, information, and people. It's important to recognize that while all three resources are key components when studying management information systems ... the most important resource is people. Management information systems are regarded to be a subset of the overall internal controls procedures in a business, which cover the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures used by management accountants to solve business problems such as costing a product, service or a business-wide strategy. Management information systems are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization. Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision making, e.g. Decision Support Systems, Expert systems, and Executive information systems.

I am carrying out the project on the topic MIS – Employee Attendance Software. I will studying deeply the working process for understanding various aspects related to the software and program.

The consumer buying trends and behaviors can be predicted by the analysis of sales and revenue reports from each operating region of the company.
Scope of the study
Information Systems (IS) is an academic/professional discipline bridging the business field and the well-defined computer science field that is evolving toward a new scientific area of study. An information systems discipline therefore is supported by the theoretical foundations of information and computations such that learned scholars have unique opportunities to explore the academics of various business models as well as related algorithmic processes within a computer science discipline.
Present study definitely throws light on some useful aspects of the management information system. Some beneficial points will be found out for the up gradation of the software and betterment.
Methodology:
The methodology for this study will be deep understanding of the software workings and its use by discussions and interviews with different HR executives and account department of the company. I also will have interaction with the software development team who developed this software for understanding interface and report generation by the permission of senior management of the company if possible.
The most important department who help me will be HR department who keep track all the reports and their findings for more working efficiency of the team members.
