INTRODUCTION
Student’s Information system is the process of managing and controlling the activities from the registration of the student till he/she becomes post-graduate. It includes maintaining and managing the records of each student registering in an institute. The basic features of this system are as follows:
BASIC FEATURES: -
• Home Page: There are five options at home page, read record, new admission record, current student record, modify record and delete record. But at reception only read option can be used.
1. Read record: At this state user can retrieve the information of a student year wise or name wise. For name wise retrieval, user has to give the course name, semester name, and name of a student if it exists then it provide the information of that student if does not exist then return error message. For year wise retrieval user has to give year except name of student.
2. New admission record: This is the insertion process that is at this state new record of student of a student can be inserted. Student roll number, father name, mother name, date of birth, gender, correspondence address and permanent address are inserted at this level.
3. Current student record: This is the current insertion process that is it inserts the current record of a student such as student name, roll number, father name, college name, year of admission, course, semester, section, total marks and obtained marks.
4. Modify record: This is the modification process. For modification it requires course, semester, and roll number of a student then user can change all the related information of that student such as name, address, marks and so on.
5. Delete record: This is deletion process. At this stage year of admission, course name, semester and so on can be deleted if they exist otherwise return a error message.
CURRENT SYSTEM STUDY
1. Heavy Paper Work
In general data base collection manual system were carried out. The system student system has many students allotted for different courses. Thus maintaining different records of student’s information of various students were difficult. The drawback of the system was that maintaining these information’s were very bulky and cumbersome. In this manual system till now whole work was done on paper, which needed a lot of clerical work. This requires the individual information about each student, which causes a lot of clerical work. This requires the individual information about each student to whom the course is concerned MCA/MBA/BBA/BCA.
2. Error Rate
The chances of errors are very high in manual system, which may lead to wrong results. Often correcting these errors need lots of efforts aside this there is no surety of correctness.
3. Time Consuming Job
Maintaining different records of student’s information of various students etc were very time consuming job. The drawback of the system was that maintaining these information’s were very bulky and cumbersome.
4. Report Generation
The reports produced were based on the information available after student registration in the course looking for relevant information among the registers. The procedure was not easy to deal. Thus reports were produced on demand.
