What is Microsoft Surface?
• Microsoft Surface (project-code name Milan) is a Surface Computing platform and a forthcoming multi-touch product from Microsoft which is developed as a software and hardware combination technology that allows a user, or multiple users, to manipulate digital content by the use of gesture recognition.
• Surface features a 30-inch tabletop display whose unique abilities allow for several people to work independently or simultaneously, all without using a mouse or a keyboard.
Features of Microsoft Surface:
• Direct Interaction : Users can actually “grab” digital information with their hands—interacting with content by touch and gesture, without the use of traditional devices such as a mouse and keyboard.
• Multi-Touch Contact : Surface computing recognizes many points of contact simultaneously, not just from one finger such as a typical touch screen, but up to dozens of items at once. Microsoft Surface has been optimized to respond to 52 touches at a time.
Multi-User : Typical computers accept only one keyboard and a
mouse. Microsoft Surface accepts multiple inputs from multiple
users. More than one person sitting across the Surface, can do independent work on the same Surface
• Object Recognition : Users can place physical objects on the surface to trigger different types of digital responses, including the transfer of digital content.
Microsoft Surface applications can recognize special tags called “Identity Tags” besides fingers and objects. These tags are similar to bar codes in concept and can store a particular value which can be retrieved by Surface’s vision system.
Structure of Microsoft Surface:
1. Screen.
2. Infrared.
3. Cpu.
4. Projector.
