BASIC DEFINITION
SOLID WASTE: solid waste, commonly known as trash or garbage, is a substance consisting of everyday items we consume and discard.
DISPOSAL: any operation which may lead to resource recovery, recycling, reclamation, direct re-use or alternative uses
Solid Wastes
Domestic wastes:
food wastes.
paper, plastics, wood, metal, throw away containers, glass.
Demolition products (bricks, masonry, pipes).
Sewage treatment residue (sludge and solids from the coarse screening of domestic sewage).
Dead animals, manure, other discarded materials.
STORAGE UNTILL COLLECTION
Food waste may be kept in ideal dustbins until collection. it is better to keep it away from living rooms.
Industrial wastes may collected and stored in a place.
Hazardous wastes must be disposed immediately after use.
TRANSPORTATION OF COLLECTED WASTE
By trucks, tricycles, and etc..,
It should be taken care that waste containing vehicles should be tightly closed that not spill or spread foul smells makes people react bad.
