INTRODUCTION:
One of the effective factors behind personal differences is intelligence or mental ability. This differentiates one person from another. In daily life we say that he is a good teacher, he is a good reporter or he is a successful trader, due to which we say that his intelligence is fine, which is uses in different fields. But other side we say that the student is failed in three subjects and that person’s behavior is idiotic. This sometimes leads to a conclusion that he does not possess good intelligence.
MEANING OF INTELLIGENCE
Intelligence is the capacity for relational constructive thinking directed to the attainment of some end. In intelligent study of literature, in intelligent running of house, in intelligent business organization-in all forms of activities, capacity for relational constructive thinking is involved which is directed to the attainment of some end.
Therefore Intelligence is comprised of three abilities which are:-
(a) Ability to observe one's own mental processes.
(b) Ability to discover essential relations between items of knowledge whether perceived or thought of.
© Ability to endure correlations.
DEFINITIONS OF INTELLIGENCE
The term intelligence means all mental activities include intelligene such as-leraning, thinking, reasoning, problem, solving ability etc.
Intelligence, the dictionary says “The capacity is to acquire and apply knowledge.”
Many psychologists has given various definations of intelligence on their basis of nature but they have one spirit.
Freeman classified all definitions of intelligence into three categories –
CHARACTERISTICS OF INTELLIGENCE :-
(1) Intelligence is an innate natural power and not acquired.
(2) Power of intelligence differs from individual to individual.
(3) It helps the individual in learning things and making adjustments.
(4) It helps the man to face and solve the complicated and difficult problems and situations.
(5) Heredity exercises a good deal of influence on intelligence.
