Abstracts: The first step in any metal scrap recycling operation is getting the metal scrap to the recycling operation and collecting or sorting materials to be processed in groups. This may involve light or heavy trucks, stationary or mobile cranes, conveyer belts and other large and potentially hazardous equipment. Group of scrap is converted into the scrap a box with use of hydraulic press .Boxes of scrap is feed into bucket of the scrap charger. The bucket area is larger so that loading capacity of bucket is high in terms of tones. Gate is opened, and then sponge iron boxes fall down on the rotating belt conveyer. Rotating belt conveyer is located in track frame. Track frame is rotating in angular position so feeding in various angular positions is done as per furnace location. Rotating belt conveyer comes out as per feeding position. Rotating belt conveyer is made from high heat tolerance material like S.S. (stainless steel) so it can oppose the high temperature heat of the furnace. Rotating belt conveyer feeds the sponge iron boxes into the furnace and return its desired position. Scrap charger is one type of automation to carry sponge iron boxes and feeding into furnace to various places in foundary. The problem with an Overhead crane is that larger space is required for the process, also it is time consuming.
