Proposed Wind.ppt (Size: 4.3 MB / Downloads: 45)
How do wind turbines convert wind
to electricity?
Wind turns rotors (kinetic energy)
Rotors turn drive train (mechanical energy)
Drive train turns generator (electrical energy)
Electricity travels via cable to inverter
Inverter converts from DC to AC power
AC power goes to source load (home appliances, lights, etc.)
Extra electricity stored in batteries or sold back to utility company via the grid
Common Concerns:
1. Aesthetics.
The proposed ordinance addresses this issue by:
Limiting the number of systems allowed on each tract;
1 per tract; more with S.U.P. approval in non-residential districts.
Limiting where the systems may be installed on the tract;
Adhere to setbacks; behind front face of the primary structure.
Prohibiting all pole designs other than monopoles;
No tripod designs or guy wires will be permitted.
Prohibiting all lighting on the system unless required by the FAA; and
Prohibiting all signage on the system.
