Abstracts: Abstract: Vertical turbine pump is used for circulating water in power plants ,urban and rural water supply etc. Vertical turbine pump is facing the shaft shearing at neck section during operation .It happens mainly due to alignment error ,material of shaft, & coupling problem. Shearing mainly occur in shaft of diameter 50 mm .In the past vertical turbine pump is suffering from a problem of shaft shearing. For vertical turbine pump it is necessary to eliminate this problem and at the same time to maintain same speed and discharge. The present work as part of an effort to find a method to reduce shaft shear. The preliminary project report include introduction to vertical turbine pump and its various components. Scanning through literature reveals that by adopting certain new methodologies this problem can be solved . In future this problem is solved by stress calculation and analyzed In ANSYS structure
