Organic polyvalent iodine chemistry is of contemporary interest. We have introduced for the first time a combination of pentavalent (5) iodine compounds o-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX) and Dess-Martin Periodinane (DMP) with tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) for many useful transformations, which are as follows:
Organic polyvalent iodine chemistry is of contemporary interest. We have introduced for the first time a combination of pentavalent (5) iodine compounds o-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX) and Dess-Martin Periodinane (DMP) with tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) for many useful transformations, which are as follows:
i) Oxidative transformation of primary carboxamides to one carbon dehomologated nitriles.
ii) Conversion of amidoximes to nitriles.
iii) Preparation of 3,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-thiadiazoles from thioamides.
iv) Oxidative bromination of aromatic compounds.
All these new methodologies are mild, efficient and reactions generally occur rapidly (typically reactions are completed within 30 min).
