Abstracts: Heat exchangers are equipments,commonly found in industrial applications.This is used to exchange heat between two fluids,cooling and heating processes.For improving the heat transfer between the mediums,the numerical analysis with the Computational Fluid Dynamics may prove useful in the optimization method for selecting parameters of the heat exchanger.In our project we have compared the results obtained from both plate Heat Exchanger and Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger. The results have been generated by changing various input parameters such as mass flow rates, temperature etc.The commencement of our project is done by generating the models on GAMBIT software; this follows the simulation of both the models in FLUENT software. By changing the different parameters, we have observed the performance and effectiveness of heat transfer for both heat exchangers.Thus this comparison may prove to be useful for further enhancement of any of the heat exchangers.
