ONLINE MONITORING AND DETECTION OF PARAMETER VARIANTION IN TRANSMISSION LINES

The HV transmission line is a critic sector of grid. Especially, Extra High Voltage (EHV) is the backbone of the grid, whether its security and reliability is consistent and ensured determines the stability of economic development. Hence an intelligent monitoring system for transmission lines is required. The overhead HV transmission line online monitoring system integrates a series of advanced technologies including sensor technology, wireless communication, audio and image processing, information technology, and network technology in order to achieve real-time supervision on operational state information of towers and wires. The main transmission line parameters to be monitored are resistance, voltage, current, temperature, frequency etc. as variations of these parameters indicate occurrence of any fault in the system. Here we are presenting a project that detects any variation in parameters through online monitoring. The monitored results will be send to remote centers through internet or as messages to cell phones. The variations of different parameters are detected by using sensors and are applied to the input of a microcontroller. The usage of GPRS system and GSM modem enables one to see the variations online and as messages in our cell phones.
