Introduction
In any University, the admission and its procedure is very important aspect. There is now an increasing tendency to use the database management system to maintain information or records. One such place is the University Admission. The information is achieved through processing of raw data in a well-defined manner in fact the data processed meaningfully is the information.
The project “Online University Admission System” is dedicated to the students admission details like issue of admit card, application form submission, fee submission, registration number, seat allotment etc. The main purpose of this project is to provide a student friendly environment for admission procedure. Another aspect of this project is to maintain the other information which necessary to student database. This project facilitate to administrator to maintain that information such as allotment of roll number, hostel allotment etc.
OBJECTIVES
The purpose of the project is to develop a web-based University admission procedure. The objectives of the Online University Admission System are: The primary goal of this project is to help the student get admission information easily. The system will be able to find all the details of the admission procedure. The system displayed information about the seat allocation, students academic details, fee submission details, students hostel details etc.
The objective of this software is to computerize the “Admission System” of any department or university.
TOOLS/ENVIRONMENT USED
a) Operating System:-
The proposed software is targeted to run on Windows NT version 4.0 (Server/Workstation) and Windows 2000 (Professional/Server), Windows XP and above editions.
b) Front End:-
PHP (Hypertext pre processor markup language) and deigning tools Macromedia Dreamweaver , HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and Script language is being used as Front End due to its productivity and maintainability. The Language has Rapid Application Development (RAD) capabilities and is powered by a very powerful Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The IDE also ships with one of the most powerful debugger, which makes the debugging process very easy. Its Graphical User Interface helps in designing various I/P forms, reports etc. easily and efficiently.
HTML is used for decorating the project, Java Script is for for validation and
3) Back End:-
MYSQL is being used as Back End for storing the Data . The reasons to choose it as back-end are:
• It is highly secured.
• It is very simple to maintain.
• It can be integrated with Vertrigo server very easily.
• It can support and manage a large amount of data.
• It is a very scalable product and can support as many number of users as supported by the infrastructure.
