Concept and design of effective coupling for power line communication
ABSTRACT
CONCEPT
The technique of using a live power cable to simultaneously transport a communication signal within a building, home, or a utility power gridto transmit data from one device to another is known as Power Line Communication (PLC).
CHALLENGES
The main disadvantages of the usually studied low voltage power line network as a communication channel are:
1. Noise
2. Unknown power cable characteristics and topology
3. Time-dependent fluctuation of the power line impedance level as loads are switched into and out of the network
4. Channel Distortion
DESIGNING CONCERNS
Some key concerns for designers wanting to include control networking features in their designs are as follows:
1. Total cost and components such as external microcontrollers and include memory, filters, or amplifiers.
2. Frequency spectrum and compliance.
3. Performance in the presence of noise.
4. Special wiring requirements.
5. Evaluation tools(Real Time environment) and Documentation explaining each step.
