Abstracts: In the present project a review of using ALUMINIUM METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES (MMC) to form the disc brake rotor is done. The advantage of Aluminum MMC lies in its ability to form low weight composite with high heat dissipation rate and high co-efficient of friction which is not possible in conventional disc brake material like cast iron. In this project the disc brake rotor is fabricated and tested. The results are then analyzed. Future scope of Al-MMC & its limitations are also reviewed.
