INTRODUCTION
Indian Railway is 150 year old.
All the Department of Indian Railway are controlled by the Govt. of India, via the Ministry of Railways.
Indian railway is divided in zones , which are further divided into divisions.
Gorakhpur is the headquarter of the North Eastern Railway zone.
End-on generation

=750 /415 V AC, 3 phase, 50 cycles
Stepped down to 110 V AC for lighting and fan load in coaches

Fluorescent lighting
DESCRIPTION OF ALTERNATOR
The weight of currently used
alternator is almost 500 kg
with maximum limit of 525 kg .
The alternator produced 230
V AC voltage.
R-R panel are use to convert
AC voltage to DC.
Conclusion
The process of knowing about lighting system in trains through alternator was a great experience to see.
Practical implementation of various electrical and electronic devices added a lot to my knowledge.
