INTRODUCTION
If manufacturers are to remain competitive in a continuously changing marketplace, they must not only continue to improve their products, but also strive to improve production systems continuously. Thus, an efficient prototyping environment for production systems is crucial. A modern production line is composed of Automated Guided Vehicle integrated with the production system.
MOTIVATION
Labour Free: Fully automated and require no labour other than periodic and remedial maintenance.
Adaptable: when our facility layout changes, moving or expanding the material flow is largely a matter of “teaching” the AGV the new configuration.
Space Efficient: they are mobile and equipped with on-board safety equipment, they can co-exist with people, manual material handling and processes such as assembly.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
The straight line motion drive is provided by the DC motor fixed at the power wheel of AGV.
The supply of the power is given by the battery assembly of 24V/1A in the cabinet.
The power wheel used is motored and its rating is 24 V/ 0.25A. The front wheels of the AGV are the power wheel. The supply to the wheel is given by battery (24 V/2Ah). This battery also gives the supply of current to the PLC.
PLC CONTROL
The power given to wheel is controlled by PLC according to the logic fed in the PLC by programmer.
The work stations are addressed and fed into PLC by programmer to give proper halt at the pick or place stations.
The curved path needed is given by PLC controlling the servo motor for axle along with the relative power variation to the two power wheels.
Various constraints like obstacles in the path, weight on the trolley, low battery power are checked and thereby controls the operation.
CHARGING & BATTERY
The vehicle is provided with the direct 220V A.C. Charging input.
The battery cabinet contains set of batteries to provide 24 V/2 AH/1 A output.
The battery cabinet is provided with a ERRU panel for electronic rectification and regulation to give the charging power for the battery assembly.
WHEEL GUIDING MECHANISM
The power for motion is provided by the front wheel.
AGV is guided by rear axial wheels.
The two rear wheels are mounted on a same displaced axis which is connected to a servomotor.
The servomotor displaces the axis linearly, which rotates the wheels through a certain degree, according to a PLC command.
The rotation is calculated by the relative rotation of front power wheels.
