ABSTRACT
Preventive maintenance of civil engineering structures is a crucial measure both for efficient distribution of limited budget and maximizing their service life spans. The common form of damage in bridges is the fatigue damage. The fatigue damage of concrete bridge decks is examined by sensitive non-destructive testing methods utilizing the propagation of stress waves. The fatigue damage process due to repeated traffic loads is visualized by means of active and passive elastic wave techniques.
