PROSPECTUS FOR ADMISSION TO P.G. DEGREE COURSE IN ENGINEERING FOR THE YEAR 2012

General
Post Graduate Degree Courses in Engineering are being offered to the
graduates in Engineering, in various Engineering Colleges in the state for
awarding Masters Degree in the appropriate branches by the concerned
Universities. The course shall extent over a period of 24 months consisting
of 4 semesters.
Institutions and Intake
The details of institutions offering P.G. Course in various disciplines
towards which allotment will be done and the intake are given in the
Annexure. A. For the P G Courses in the institutions given in Annexure B, a
rank list will be published from among the applicants and admission will be
done to the 50% seats by institutions themselves from the rank list, by
inviting separate applications.
Fee structure
For Institutions in Annexure A
Admission fees Rs. 150/-
Special fees Rs. 2850/-
Tuition fees Rs. 4500/- per semester
Caution Deposit Rs. 1500/-

Reservation of seats
a) 5% Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SEBC. Only candidates
having annual income less than Rs.4.5 lakhs will be eligible for reservation
under this category.
b) 15% Seats are reserved for SC/ST Candidates.
c) The seats reserved for each category will be distributed among the eligible
communities by observing the pattern of general reservation rules of the
state.
d) 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates.
e) 15% seats relating to management quota in TKM College of Engineering,
Kollam, MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam and NSS Collge of
Engineering, Palakkad will be filled by the Management (For courses in
Annexure A).
Eligibility for admission
a) The candidates shall be an Indian National
b) The candidates should have studied the Graduate course in an institution
approved by the AICTE/Deemed Universities.
c) Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the
Engineering Degree examination. For SC/ST candidates a pass in the
Engineering Degree course is sufficient.
d) Candidates, who have passed AMIE/AMIETE Examinations and satisfying
the following conditions, are eligible for admission to institutions under
University of Kerala.
1) They must have valid GATE score.
2) A minimum of 55% marks for section B in AMIE/AMIETE
examination.
3) Minimum three years of Professional experience in the field of
Specialization after acquiring the qualifying degree.

e) Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also
apply, provided he/she has passed all the subjects up to and including the
6th semester exam. Such candidates shall submit self-attested copies of all
mark lists up to 6th semester along with the application. Selection of such
candidates shall be subject to the production of qualifying degreesatisfying
clauses V (a) to (d) as applicable on or before September 30,
2012.
f) Admission shall normally be restricted to those with valid GATE score.
However, this stipulation is relaxed in the case of Sponsored candidates.
g) In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE
score, candidates from Kerala State without valid GATE score will be
considered against such vacancies. Even if seats are still remaining vacant,
candidates from other states will be considered for admission.
Equivalency table is enclosed as Annexure-A.
Submission of Applications
Applications should be filled online logging on to the website
www.dtekerala.gov.in and www.cet.ac.in. The different entries in the
application are to be filled with extreme care, as this information is used for
preparing the rank list. After submitting the application online, an
application fee of Rs 500/- (Rs 100/- in case of SC/ST Candidates) is to be
remitted in any specified branch of State Bank of Travancore with chalan
generated on submission of the application and a printout of the filled up
application should be taken and sent with copies of the following
documents, to the Principal, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram-
695016.
a) Engineering Degree certificate and Mark lists.
b) GATE Score card (for Candidates with valid GATE Score)

c) Community and Income certificate issued by the village officer for
candidates who claim eligibility under SEBC quota
d) Community certificate issued by the Tahsildar for candidates who
claim eligibility for reservation under SC/ST quota.
e) True copy of professional experience certificate from the Head of the
organizations where the candidate is working in case of those who
passed AMIE/AMIETE.
f) Counterfoil of the chalan for remittance of application fee.
VIII. Selection of Candidates
1. For Institutions in Annexure A
a) Candidates will have to register their option while submitting the
application. There will not be any provision to change the option.
b) The selection of Candidates will be supervised by the selection committee
consisting of the Director of Technical Education (Chairman), the Senior
Joint Director (ECS) and the Principal, College of Engineering,
Thiruvananthapuram. The Principal, College of Engineering
Thiruvananthapuram will be the co- ordinator and the Venue for admission
work is College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.
c) Selection of candidates will be based on the GATE score. In case of tie,
advantage will be given to the candidates who secure highest aggregate
marks up to 6th semester in their qualifying examination..
d) If sufficient GATE qualified candidates are not available, the selection will
be made from Keralite candidates based on the aggregate marks up to 6th
semester in their qualifying examination. Candidates who have produced
Nativity Certificate, at the time of application will only be considered for
this.
