When you publish notices in your college notice board, they are accessible only by the students and teachers, who visit the college on a daily basis. If we are implementing college notice annunciated system by using FM transmitter and MP3 player, students are no need to go to notice board. This project is very helpful for the colleges.
Secure Digital (SD) cards are removable flash-based storage devices that are gaining in popularity in small consumer devices such as digital cameras, PDAs, and portable music devices. Their small size, relative simplicity, low power consumption, and low cost make them an ideal solution for many applications. The SD card standard is a standard for removable memory storage designed and licensed by the SD Card Association. The SD Card standard is largely a collaborative effort by three manufacturers, Toshiba, Sandisk, and MEI and grew out of an older standard, Multimedia Card (MMC). The card form factor, electrical interface, and protocol are all part of the SD Card specification. The SD standard is not limited to removable memory storage devices and has been adapted to many different classes of devices, including 802.11 cards, Bluetooth devices, and modems.
In this project we used an ATMEL microcontroller, some pushbuttons, an mp3 decoder, MMC/SD card and a digital to analog converter and FM transmitter. An SD card can have MP3 files written to it using a PC. The card is formatted using the FAT file system. The microcontroller is then used to read this SD card to get the mp3 data. Pushbuttons are used for functions such as skip to the next song, stop, and play. The song names are displayed on the LCD. FM transmitter is placed at output of the MP3 player. User has to store the message in the SD card which is to be annunciated and place the MP3 player in the repeated mode.
Applications are in I pod’s, CD players, VCDS and Cell phones etc.
