ABSTRACT:
The project is implementation of single compressor on multiple bore-wells operating in a sequential manner by using Programmable Logic Controller.The already existing methods are bore well compressor timer,microcontroller system for bore well three phase motor to avoid dry running,GSM based bore well water level monitor. This unit consists of PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER ,compressor and set of 4 solenoidal valves. These valves are controlled by the controller according to the programming timer in minutes/seconds decided by the farmer . It mainly reduces the wastage of power due to dry running of motor and the initial cost of compressor.
INTRODUCTION:
Every year more than 20% of electric motors installed burnout around the world.The major reason for pumping system failure are dry run of motors. The protective device for the pump is the heart of the total system. Different kinds of protective relays are available to perform different functions. It is important that a proper protective device is selected to avoid burn out of motor.So to avoid dry running, we provide PLC ALONG WITH THE TIME SETTINGS. The proposed can be divided into three modules,sensing,decision making and implementation.The PLC also communicates the status of the entire system.
PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER:
PLC is an industrial digital computer is used for implementing the concept of automation in all types of industries with less effort.Before the PLC ,control sequencing and safety interlock logic for manufacturing automobiles was mainly composed of relays,camtimers,drum sequencers and dedicated closed loop controllers. Before the PLC, control, sequencing, and safety interlock logic for manufacturing automobiles was mainly composed of relays, cam timers, drum sequencers, and dedicated closed-loop controllers. Since these could number in the hundreds or even thousands, the process for updating such facilities for the yearly model change-over was very time consuming and expensive, as electricians needed to individually rewire the relays to change their operational characteristics. However, the biggest benefit in using a PLC is the ability to change the entire operation of the system just by changing the program embedded in it, which is not an easy thing while using relay connections
REASON FOR USING PLC:
• Power consumption is more.
• Cost of implementation is high.
• Dry running cannot be prevented.
• Probability of burn out of motor is high.
To avoid these problems we use PLC.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION:
The tools required are compressor,solenoidal valve,OMRON PLC KIT,ZEN PLC software. The time mentioned in the PLC, the solenoidal valve for first bore-well will open and then it will automatically shift to the second bore-well and the operation will continue sequentially upto 4 bore-wells and then the motor will stop. We can change the program time according to the seasonal variations and yield of the bore-well.
In agricultural field normally three phase induction motors are used to pump the water for irrigation purposes and also. Nowadays the three phase supply is not at all time. Single phasing or phase loss is the operation of three phase motors on only two phase due to the loss of voltage on one phase. This occurs when one fuse blows, when there is a mechanical failure within the equipment, a broken power line, open supply transformer winding, or a lightning strike. When the power ON the PLC start to reading the stored program in the memory so the three phase supply is provided to the motor.If the level of the water is below the particular level then the signal is passed to PLC so the desired contact is activated by relay.
RESULT:
The lifting of the water from 4 number of Bore-wells sequentially by using only one compressor unit has been done. Power wastage has been reduced.Cost implementation has been reduced.Dry running has been prevented.The advantages of proposed design is Multi bore-wells are connected to a single compressor.Power consumption is low, Cost of installation is low,Prevents dry running
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, this presentation has shown that a good and reliable technique can be designed locally and that there is the need for unmanned and secure operation in our agriculture. Since phase failure cannot be avoided in our everyday electricity consumption, it is paramount to note that phase failure detector is a very vital protective device that must be taken seriously
