National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is a public sector under the Ministry of Power, Government
of India, functioning as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of Indian Power Sector.
It is the only Institute of its kind in India, catering to the core power sector and allied energy sectors imparting
its professional expertise in the field of training and HRD in Power Sector through its Institutes at different
regions of country viz. Nangal, Neyveli, Durgapur, New Delhi, Nagpur, Guwahati, Faridabad and Bangalore
guided by the corporate office (NPTI complex, sector-33, Faridabad-121003, Haryana)since the last four
decades.
NPTI’s institutes are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art training infrastructure. These institutes
are conducting a number of training programs for power engineers, operators and
technicians in the areas of thermal and hydro power generation, power system and other related areas. The
Training institutes at Badarpur and Nagpur are equipped with computer based full scope replica simulator of
210- MW fossil fuel thermal power plant to provide off-job, Hands-on Training. Another 500 MW Simulator
has also been set up at NPTI corporate centre, Faridabad. A simulator of combined cycle Gas Turbine
Power Plant and a GIS centre have recently been set up at Faridabad campus of NPTI.
ABOUT NPTI (ER) DURGAPUR INSTITUTE
NPTI, Durgapur situated in the heart of the city, City Centre, Durgapur plays an important role in the
field of HRD in the Power Sector as a leading Institute in the Eastern Region since 1968. Durgapur, being an
Industrual hub of the eastern India, NPTI (ER) enjoy the facility of an Ultratech educational Infrastructure with
enviable expertise from the faculties available in an around Durgapur from various power organisations like
DVC, DPL, CESC Ltd, DPSC Ltd., Power Grid, WBPDCL, NTPC, SAIL Ltd. NSPCL to name a few. Conceived
as the industrial hub of the Eastern India, Durgapur is renowned for its heavy Industries, power plants and
cement plant. There are five power stations at durgapur, viz. DTPS (DVC), 350 MW, DPL 395 MW, HFCI 15
MW, PCBL 4.5 mw, NTPC DSP Captive Power Plant 120 MW. Moreover, within a distance of 20-50 km,
there are two latest power plants namely Mejia Thermal Power Station and Bakreswar Thermal Power
Station with which we have close connection since their inception. There are two Cement Plants i.e. Durgapur
Cement and L & T Cement and overall Durgapur Steel Plant as the basis of Steel city. So its industrial
environment makes it an ideal location for engineering courses like B.Tech in Power Engineering.
Durgapur is about 160 km. away Kolkata on Howrah-Delhi railway line (main line). The campus is
built and developed over a land of about 11 acres and 5 acres land has already been acquired separately for
